IOSH : Institute of Occupational Safety and Health
The Institute of Occupational Safety & Health or the IOSH was founded in February 1945, it is an independent and not for profit organisation. Over the years the IOSH has been known for setting professional standards for health and safety for the UK but also has international members as well. Over the years it has grown to 43,000 members with members in over 100 other countries.
Since 1945 the IOSH has developed and grown and has used its collective knowledge to ensure that people can be trained fully in the health and safety procedures of many sectors, they have dedicated themselves into providing training from management downwards but also in supplying training for professional to be able to consult with companies.
Not only does the IOSH set professional standards it also supports and develops members and has publications giving great advice and guidance on all manner of health and safety issues.
In 2011 the IOSH, along with other Health and Safety bodies created the OSHCR, the Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register. This was to give awareness and promote the use of certified health and safety consultants in the work place.
